Modalities refer to different types of passive treatment – acoustic wave, laser, ice/heat, ultrasound for example. We use these to shorten healing time and help manage discomfort.
Functional strength is related to normal activities of daily living – not just to weight machines or exercises.
Proprioception refers to the body’s ability to sense the location of muscles, joints and extremities. The proprioceptive nerve pathways can be disrupted from injuries such as sprains or strains, broken bones, etc. Restoring proprioception is important to prevent future injuries by maintaining balance and strength.
