John Manley

After several careers and course changes, and marrying Suzanne, John completed a bachelor of science degree in physiotherapy at the University of Saskatchewan in 1991.  This was followed by additional training in manual therapy through the Orthopedic Division of the CPA, and completion of the medical acupuncture certificate offered by the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

After graduation, John worked at the Melfort General Hospital for a year, both on the wards and the outpatient clinic;  he then moved to Watson’s Physiotherapy in Medicine Hat, AB, where he treated a range of orthopedic-related injuries in a diverse clientele.  In 1995 he and Suzanne purchased the Sooke Evergreen Physiotherapy clinic.

During his time in Sooke, John was been involved with the BC Orthopedic Division of the CPA as treasurer and has taken several additional courses in manual therapy and acupuncture.  He also completed (2006) the instructor’s training in Laughlin’s ‘Strength and Flexibility’ method, and is teaching classes at the clinic (see Stretch and Strength for details).

January 2008 marked the beginning of a new venture - pursuing a Master of Rehabilitation Science degree at UBC.  The online courses are both challenging and rewarding, with many ideas and concepts transfered directly into treatment of clients.

His interests at home include reading and sketching, hiking, running and swimming.
